Paint With Tooth Monday 9/5 & Tuesday 9/6!

Tooth is back next week Monday and Tuesday (September 5 & 6) to paint on the skatepark with you! Contribute your ideas or pitch in behind the spray can – Tooth is an amazing Burlington artist who’s been working with the Hub for a year to bring art to the skatepark, inside and out. Come see how it’s done or be a part of it and pick up some skills.

Hit the Hub After School!

Welcome back, everyone! The Hub is looking forward to seeing everyone we’ve missed over the summer. If you’re part of the summer crew, you know about the work that’s gone into improving the skatepark – the new surface, painting, repairs, murals, and more to come… if you’re returning to the Hub for the first time in a while, you’ll be stoked on the skatepark.

Look for some fun stuff to land inside the Hub soon, too – we’re building-out the video game setup to network a couple Xbox 360s. We have a shelf full of Xbox games, and a Kinect, too. New HD video projector for movie nights, a new ping pong table on its way, and improvements to the internet area are coming.

If you missed the two-day Screaming for Change festival this summer, look for more music on the Hub stage starting September 9 with Prosoma and a pile of metal, and find SFC pics in the Hub blog and Facebook. Oh yeah, FRIEND US to hear about upcoming fun stuff, and if you’re in a band let Ryan know  – the Hub crew will help you put a show on here if you want. Ryan also teaches free music lessons – drums, guitar, bass guitar. Tag him any time (more info to come).

The photo is of Tooth standing in front of the latest Hub mural. More art to come, before winter lands on us! Come get involved with it – help paint when Tooth is here, or contribute mural ideas. That’s how it happens. He’s here next Monday or Tuesday, join us.

The crew these days is Jim Lockridge, Ryan Krushenick, and Heather Simson. Sarah’s AmeriCorps term is over and she’s working with the Counseling Service of Addison County now, still visiting and on the Hub’s new community advisory board. The dogs you’ll be tripping on here include Charlie (big tennis ball fetcher), Wee Man (he’s pretty wee), and Sophia, the antique princess poodlish one. Now and then Daisy the greyhound joins us. Big Hub pet family to hang with.

The Hub’s here for everybody – come do homework, skate, hang out – doesn’t matter what you’re into, it’s a pretty cushy space to relax in. Congrats for starting your next year in school – good luck with it; looking forward to being here for you.

BYOBacon Video Edit From The Worble

Back in July, during the BYOBacon skateboarding event, The Worble, a skateboarding crew from southern Vermont, came down with their camera and filmed some of the adult section of the competition.  Tom Mull, lead filmer for The Worble, put together an edit of all the footage he gathered.  This is the final product.  It was a fun day and a lot of people showed up.  We hope everyone can make it out to next year’s!  If you want to see more videos from The Worble click HERE!

Hub Beach Bums!

Yesterday the Hub went to Maine to say goodbye to summer with one super fun beach day. With the Big Heavy Word Van we were able to drive all the way to York Beach and home again in one great day.
